Happy March! I don’t know about you, but January and February felt like a blur, and now it’s March! Here's a report of what happened in February. If you went to Southern Regional ACDA- it looked like an absolute blast, and I promise you I’m jealous!
February:
S&E to kick off the month. Congrats to all!
Worked with Highland Oaks Middle School in preparations for Choral MPA. Samantha Jones is a spectacular teacher, and if you want some pretty impactful and attractive posters for your classroom- I recommend you offer to pay her a little. They’re ADORABLE!
Worked with Southwood Middle School in preparations for Choral MPA.
Worked with Hialeah Gardens Senior High School.
Worked with Miami Arts Charter Middle School
Resumed Voice Lessons with FCS- all the students received Superior ratings at Districts, so we’re getting ready for states.
Continued Voice lessons with a variety of different students.
I had the blessing of visiting so many wonderful choral programs, all in different stages of learning and preparing for their district assessments. Here, we call it MPA- Music Performance Assessment, which includes the performance of two selections and sight-reading. The reality is these teachers are working hard and developing outstanding musicians. Regardless, everyone is always nervous that they may not have done enough. The students I saw were prepared, hard-working, and excited to learn more. I don’t think I said any magic words their teachers hadn’t said before, but it was just a new human, and suddenly they were more attentive.
